I remember the first time I saw a computer. I think I was about 7 or 8 years old and it was at my great-grandmothers house. It was a Macintosh and quite a large thing. I was quite impressed! A year or two later, I think my parents got one and I played games on it. It was an Atari and I played this game called “Frogger” on it. I remember having to boot up the computer using a cassette tape!!! Now in 2011, I have a Facebook, Youtube, Gmail, Picasa account and my LIFE is on the computer, on the Internet and on my hard disk. (and back-up hard disk, haha!) We have evolved such that the Internet is such a part of our lives. Does it have to be that way? I don’t think so. I’m sure we could just so easily live without the computer and the Internet. Well, we seemed to get by just fine in the 50’s and even the 70’s! But it’s here to stay. It does make life quite easy. (and it’s a lot of fun!) But it does make us ignore what’s outside the window though. When I was 4, I played with my Barbie dolls and out in the garden. Now, my 4-year old plays with my iPhone and his fathers iPad. It makes me a little sad sometimes. So I make sure I kick him outside once in a while!! =)
