What it meant to have access to Internet and computers 12 years ago was to own a yahoo account, make friends outside Africa and play online video games.
Fast forward to this day, access to computers and Internet means so much more to me than games and pen pals online. Computers and Internet gave me a sense of empowerment and opportunity. I feel like I can be what ever I want to be and barriers that ones existed to creating African solutions to African problems are no more there.
Having an undergrad degree in Human Resource Management, access to Internet and computers helped me to acquire computer programming and business management skills.
Today, I use these skills acquired from the Internet and computers to build Farmerline, a service that empowers poor farmers to produce more food and also lift themselves out of poverty. My whole life is now dependent on the Internet and computers to a great extent.
I can’t image going a day without them.
